SOPA
In response to the Protect IP Act (PIPA) and Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), hundreds of websites on January 18th, 2012 went dark in protest. Among them were sites such as
Wikipedia English,
imgur and
Reddit, only to name a few. While this protest may have successfully cowered
at least one key supporter into withdrawing support for the bill, there is still work to be done on successfully stopping SOPA.
